Peafowl

India Blue Peafowl

Originating from India, the India Blue Peacock is a stunning bright large bird. The female does not have the beautiful tail is equally attractive. Peafowl will lay April to June each season, and the male will lose his train while he molts his new feathers in for the next season. Although they can be used for meat, as they are a nuissance in some areas, their main use is exhibition and their feathers. Many artisians and collectors love their beautiful feathers. Peafowl come in many colors, with the most common being the India Blue. We raise the color but do have a cameo colored hen that lives with the flock.

It is recommend to house peafowl in an aviary setting as they can fly and are a nuisance in many areas. They can be tamed over time in a pen. Ours come and eat out of our hands during feed time and reside with the turkeys in an aviary.
