2023 Farm Policies

Before You Purchase

Please read the below before you consider ordering from us:

Please understand that we are a farm and cannot answer phone calls. With this said, email and text is our best form of communication. Please mention your name, phone number, and email address for all communication. Please allow up to 3 days for a response

Please know that we are breeders and will have a waiting list for most breeds, varieties, and species. The only way to ensure you get the breeds/species/varieties from us that you’d like is to pre-order as we no longer hatch for general sales. We only hatch for pre-orders and our breeding program, not general availability. We do post overflow on our online web store when we know we will have a lot hatching. If chicks or hatching eggs are shown out of stock, please check back as we do add extras on our online farm store. Expect some varieties will sell out before Spring arrives. As breeders, we have the right to retain animals for our programs.

Due to the Avian Influenza scare in the United States, we do not do tours or practice agritourism. We want to keep our animals safe from any exposure as best as we can. All pick-ups are at the gate or at our future farm stand/pick-up station.

For Emu chick orders, please understand that we cannot control genders, nor mother nature in general therefore what we do not fulfill this season will be fulfilled the next. There is no guarantee you will get chicks if you are on a waitlist for a given season but we will communicate to the best of our ability throughout the season. We also ask if you decide not to wait to let us know so we can take you off the list. If you are not ready for your chicks when your name is up, we will add you to the bottom of the list. **2023 Update**: Due to such a high number of people on our waitlists and a high number not fully committed or ready for emus, we will be listing our emu chicks on a first come first serve basis. We will reach out to those on the waiting list, however will be contacting multiple people at one time to ensure our emus get a home. We cannot wait for people to get back to us so we will be going down our list fast. We will have a purchase option on our website and emu chicks will be sold first come first serve on what is hatched and is available. Emus must be picked up at the farm or the buyer needs to arrange transport are responsible for permits within their states. With other species, we will be utilizing this new process as well in regards to the waitlists.

We have the right to not serve people who are abusive or pushy. We are breeders and expect respect. Buyers are responsible to research their state and purchasing any permits needed or direct us to the right way (fees will be added to the invoice for this)- this includes required vet visits. We work hard on what we raise and prefer people with like minds to continue our lines.

As breeders, we have the right to retain stock to preserve but also to improve.  We are dedicated breeders. Every season we will pull some stock out of the inventory to improve them. We go off a waitlist for all that we raise.

All ORDERS ARE PREORDERS

WE ARE IN SEASON AND HATCHING WEEKLY. BUT DUE TO THE EGG SHORTAGE WE ARE EXPERIENCING A HIGH DEMAND FOR BIRDS AND HAVE A WAITLIST ON ALL BREEDS AND EGGS

We hatch as orders come in

We are now taking preorders for hatching eggs, day old straight run chicks, and 4-6 week old pullets! Preorders are paid in full and will start to be fulfilled in April by the order in which orders are received. That does not mean all orders will be fulfilled in April. Fulfillment is contingent on what we get as genders. If we don’t get enough pullets in a hatch, orders will be moved to the next hatch automatically until we get the order fulfilled.

Please check your zoning and if you are allowed animals. Most of the chicks we sell will be straight run. This means that you will get a mix of males and females.

Our Guarantee

Live Bird Shipments

We guarantee you will get 100% live chicken chicks in your shipment. There will always be extras provided to make up for any losses. Please open the chick box as soon as you receive it and count the number of chicks. If they are the number you ordered, alive, and kicking, great! If you have extras, wonderful!

When contacting us for losses, please do not mention the extras, just the ones that you have ordered. We have your order on file, and do note how many extras we send.  If there is a loss and you receive less than what you ordered, please contact us within 48 hours with photos of the deceased chicks and we will file a claim with USPS. If we don’t receive photos within 48 hours, there is nothing we can do.

Here is the nitty-gritty stuff on game birds though:

We DO NOT offer any guarantee/replacement/refunds on shipments of Peafowl or Game Birds, such as quail. We only ship juvenile and adult quail. We will not ship chicks due to the high mortality.

Due to our strict practice of biosecurity, At NO time will Stellar Game Birds, Poultry, Waterfowl LLC accept returns of live or deceased birds. All chicks are hand-selected and packed with love and shipped through USPS express. Once they leave our farm, they will arrive at you within 1-2 days depending on your location. We provide Gro-gel or fruit to each box upon request and a pamphlet for chick care upon request. All boxes are new and all supplies to the box are new to avoid contamination to your location. We practice biosecurity on our farm. To learn more about biosecurity, click here.

We only ship live birds though USPS Express. If there is a courier request, it is the buyer’s responsibility to make arrangements. If birds are ready to go, and we have to wait for a pick up from a courier, there will be an additional $10 charged daily to the order for boarding fees. The birds will no be allowed to leave until full payment is received at pick up.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR SHIPMENT DOES NOT MAKE IT?

We require photographic evidence so we can file a claim. All shipments are insured in case the post office does not deliver on time or if elements beyond our control occurs. We have no control once the birds leave our premises. We can file the claim so the post office can refund you. We cannot send replacement chicks unless they are repurchased. All orders are considered preorders. We begin shipping in spring and we ship based on the order received. We will contact you when we are getting close to shipping your order. Communication is important. If you need birds by a specific time or will be out of time, we ask you to please contact us as soon as possible so we can prepare ahead of time.

Due to weather, emergencies, or impromptu bird testing, shipping may be delayed. We will contact you if that is the case. We have the right to cancel an order at any given time if we are not able to fulfill or need to retain for our own stock.

SHIPPING POLICY FOR HATCHING EGGS

For Hatching Eggs, there is NO GUARANTEE ON HATCH RATES. There is a saying to not count your chicks before they hatch. We send the freshest, fertile eggs to you, however, once the eggs leave our facility, we have no control over what happens to the eggs. Hatch rates depend on your incubation techniques, environment, and housing as well. Shipping does play a role on hatch rates at times. On the farm, our hatch rate is 96-99% depending on the time of year. We record each hatch percentage weekly and if you have any questions, always contact us.

Fertility and Hatch Rates are two different terms. Please understand that if your eggs do not hatch, it is the hatch rate affected and not the fertility. We hatch weekly to ensure that our birds are fertile. We do not send eggs out if there is a known fertility issue on the farm.

At times the postal service delays shipments which are factors outside our control. If any damages occur during shipping, we will need photographic evidence to present for insurance claims. We will replace, however, the replacement will be based on our waiting list and scheduling, and will not be free. At times we will postpone due to mother nature as well. Patience is a virtue.

All our eggs are shipped in foam and packed in a strong box. Once they leave our farm, they should arrive to you within 2-3 days. If you request for overnight or express, extra fees will apply and they should arrive to you within 1-2 days. We take pride in our packing and each egg is inspected, weighed, and packed with love along with a care pamphlet for egg care and then for chick care. All supplies and boxes are unused and new prior to shipping to you. We want no contamination to your farm. We practice biosecurity here and due to the Avian Influenza scares all over the USA, we take this seriously.

If eggs arrive broken, please let us know so we can file an insurance claim. This must be done 24 hours within receipt of the shipment. After 24 hours, we will assume that you are satisfied and won’t pursue contacting USPS to get any claims made.

If unsatisfied with hatch rates, we can assist in helping you be successful next round. We cannot guarantee hatch rates. They are out of our control.

Transport/Flying Options

Some of the animals we raise cannot be shipped. At times, transport will be needed. Transport is a separate cost and is based on the company used.  If flying is an option, we will consider that as well. Safety is very important to us and the health of the animals we provide. The buyer is responsible for any additional costs including health certificates, vet, and anything required. It’s state specific. **NEW** We offer transport through our Stellar Transport service! Please email/text us for rates.

Cancellations

Due to the high demand of people wanting birds from us, if there is a cancellation, we will retain 25% for restocking.
