Gloucestershire Old Spot Pigs

After years of searching for that perfect self sustainable pig that thrived on pasture, but also a great docile personality, we got our dream pigs: Gloucestershire Old Spots. Purchased as registered piglets, we have been growing and raising our first group since the pandemic and are in love. Those floppy ears and comical yet laid back personalities are not all the wonderful qualities of this pig breed. They are a pig well suited for the small farm.
The Gloucestershire Old Spot (GOS), developed in the Berkley Vale of Gloucestershire, England, is the oldest pedigreed spotted pig in the world dating back to 1790. This docile and intelligent Pig was nicknamed the “orchard pig,” as traditionally they were raised outdoors in orchards feasting on fallen apples. It is said they got their spots from the fallen apples, bruising them and creating the spots.
The rare pigs are listed as threatened according to the Livestock Conservancy. A mature boar can weigh over 600 pounds and a mature sow, over 500 pounds or larger depending on age and food intake. Being a heritage pig, the Old Spots are slow growers but they are known for amazing meat taste (lean meat) and vitamin D rich lard. They do well on pasture, breed well, and are known for their maternal tendencies.
Our Breeders are registered within GOSA (Gloucestershire Old Spot of America) and GOSPBU (Gloucestershire Old Spots Pig Breeders United). Alexandra has been dedicated representing this breed, she is one of the officers for GOSA, volunteering as a registrar as of 2024!
We had a two litters born February 11, 2025 and February 14, 2025. We are offering any intact as registered pigs, as we want to preserve this rare breed and want others to help us do so.
