Black Copper Marans

Black Copper Marans are one of our prize and joys on the farm, not only because of their beautiful chocolate colored eggs, but also because of their temperament. If one searches the origin of the Marans, the typical search will give you that the bird comes from the marshy areas of Marans, France.  One of the first chicken breeds on the homestead was this very one.   All of our breeders are feather shanked as per the standards call for. The Marans is a hard bird to breed as not only are they bred for specific conformations, they also have to be bred for their dark eggs. If any one asks what line we have, we will proudly say Bev Davis. We are proud members of the Marans Chicken Club.
